RARE TREAT:  Ready for a taste of mid-September in late July?  The unseasonably cool air is here today.  Enjoy the sunshine with periods of passing clouds.  Highs will top out in the middle to upper 70s.  The average is 85° with the coolest high temp we’ve seen on this day at 71° set back in 1996.  Tonight we bottom out in the middle to upper 50s.

perspective

MILD WEEK:  The unseasonal air stays with us for the rest of the week, with a small uptick each day.  As the upper level low continues to spin over Canada, a few weak waves of energy will swing through our area.  What’s this mean for you and me?  We’re mild and mostly sunny, but a stray storm may bubble each afternoon as the daytime heating kicks in.  Highs Wednesday are near 80° with highs in the middle 80s by Friday.  The chance for storms increases just a bit on Friday.

RAIN CHANCES

WEEKEND:  Our flow remains pretty blocked up, so the forecast will be slow to change.  However, over the weekend it looks like our flow will be more south to north, pulling moisture from the Gulf of Mexico.  This squeezes between a trough to our west and a strong high to our east.  Models continue to drive toward a cloudy, showery, stormy pattern setting up for the weekend.  We’re still looking at a low confidence forecast at this time.  For now, it’s mostly cloudy with the chance for showers and storms.  Highs are in the low to middle 80s.  This may linger into the start of next week.
