Smokey Bear, the famous fire-preventing mascot turns 70-years old today.
The beloved public service icon, who strives to educate people about preventing forest fires, will certainly be the first to blow out his 70 candles!
The concept of Smokey Bear was created by the U.S. Forrest Service, the National Association of State Foresters and the Ad Council.
His first public service poster came out on August 9, 1944 and his famous slogan “Remember, only you can prevent forest fires,” came later, in 1947.
