Man attacked after defending women from catcallers in Philadelphia

Police say a man was brutally assaulted after defending a group of woman from catcallers reports NBCPhiladelphia.  The 39-year-old Texas man was walking in Rittenhouse Square when several men drove up in a Black Nissan and began catcalling at a group of women according to police.

“The male victim took offense to something that the guys were saying to the girls and said ‘hey, watch what you’re saying,'” said Philadelphia Police Captain George Fuchs.

Police say one of the men punched the victim in the head, and he was knocked unconscious after hitting his head on the concrete.

“This is a tragic, tragic story,” Captain Fuchs said. “Here’s a guy trying to stick up for these girls and he gets victimized.”

The suspect reportedly fled the scene it the vehicle. Police say the Nissan had Delaware tags and if you have any information on the attack, please call Philadelphia Police.
