The family of Sandra Mulder gasped and cried in the York County courtroom when her killer, Bryan Brackbill, was convicted. “Hopefully this is the first step to healing our hearts” said Sandra’s brother Robert Allen Smith. Her daughter Crystal Summers said “it’s worth every moment of anxiety and every moment of nervousness that we’ve had.”
Back in June of last year Mulder was found with her feet and hands bound in duct tape in the home she shared with Brackbill. His glasses were found near her body and Brackbill’s then girlfriend testified that he told her he had killed Mulder, which was enough evidence for the jury to convict him. “I’m ecstatic that justice has been served. That Bryan Brackbill was found guilty. I’m happy that he’s going to spend the rest of his life in prison” said Assistant District Attorney Dave Sunday.
If he does he’ll have to do it behind bars. Meanwhile Mulder’s family is left with the memory of a loved one taken too soon. “If one of her friends had a problem it was her problem and she was going to fight to the end to help that person and the world isn’t made up of a lot of people like that” said her brother Robert. Brackbill asked to be sentenced immediately after the verdict. The judge sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
