Police ID York County bank robbery suspect

Police in York County have identified the suspect in the July 31st robbery of the Metro Bank branch along Arsenal Road in Manchester Township.

The suspect, wearing a long sleeve purple Baltimore Ravens shirt, walked into the bank and handed a teller a note demanding money. There was no weapon displayed, but the suspect did threaten to harm people if his demands were not met.

Northern York County Regional Police say the suspect is James L. Welsh, 27, with no known address.  Investigators say Welsh is currently held in jail in Anne Arundel County, Maryland on a bank robbery charge.

Welsh was tied to the Manchester Township robbery by eyewitness identification and fingerprint evidence left on the robbery note.

Charges against Welsh include Robbery, Theft by Unlawful Taking, Receiving Stolen Property and Terroristic Threats
