A Lower Paxton man leaving for work caught a thief in the act, according to police. It happened around 1:29am on the 900 block of Elm Avenue. When the man saw the thief in his car with a flashlight between his teeth, he charged after the burglar. A fight ensued. The thief ran away, down Colonial Road. The resident chased him and fought with him again. This continued until the thief threatened the man with a knife. He escaped south on Colonial, running towards Route 22. Police searched with a K-9, but did not find the suspect. The resident sustained scrapes and bruises and it is believed that the suspect was also injured during the incident. All property the suspect was in the act of stealing was recovered along with several items apparently belonging to the suspect.

The suspect is described as a thin white male, about 6’ tall, with short hair and a beard and a large tattoo on his chest. He had been wearing a black hoodie but that was torn off in the fight leaving him without a shirt.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Lower Paxton Township Police Department at (717) 657-5656 or the Tip-Line at (717) 724-8317.
