A Penn State Harrisburg student is facing charges after police allege he stole numerous items from buildings and vehicles on the Middletown campus late last year.

Timothy A.  Carson, 24, of Hummelstown, is charged with 5 counts of theft from a motor vehicle, 2 counts of theft by unlawful taking, access device fraud, forgery and loitering and prowling at night time. He turned himself into police on Aug. 20.

Police began investigating a rash of thefts on the campus between Nov. 2013 and Dec. 2013  after numerous items were reported stolen, including cash, backpacks and electronic devices.

According to police reports, Carson was captured on Penn State’s surveillance video using a victim’s credit card to buy an iPad.

Authorities obtained a search warrant for his home in Hummelstown and recovered some of the items that were reported stolen.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 29.
