In the NFL, Michael Sam, the first openly gay football player to be drafted into the league, has been cut from the Saint Louis Rams.
The team announced that Sam has been waived and did not make the final 53-man roster.
Head Coach Jeff Fisher said the cut was merely a “football decision.”
In a series of tweets, Sam thanked the Rams for drafting him and says he looks forward to building on the progress he’s made.
