The coroner has identified the 8-year-old boy who died after being struck by lightning in southern Lancaster County Sunday afternoon.
Ephraim Stoltzfus, 8, was killed when he was struck by lightning while running across a field after getting out of a creek in Fulton Township, according to Dauphin County Coroner Graham Hetrick.
Authorities said Stoltzfus had been swimming in a creek with friends near Nottingham and Soapstone Hill Roads when a storm moved through the area around 2:28 p.m.
Stoltzfus was taken to Hershey Medical Center where he later died.
The Dauphin County coroner ruled his death as accidental.
