STEWARTSTOWN, Pa. (WPMT)- A 54-year-old man committed suicide after his Stewartstown chiropractic business went up in flames early Tuesday , investigators said.

According to police reports, David Wistort, of Whitehall, Md.,   was found dead at Hopewell Recreational Park in Stewartstown Borough. Wistort was the owner of  Adio Chiropractic at 32 S. Main Street–which was destroyed by arson on Tuesday.

During the fire investigation– officers tried to locate Wistort at his home but they could not find him or reach him on his cell phone. Police later found his body at the park with a self inflicted gunshot wound.

Authorities discovered Wistort purchased gasoline just a few hours before the fire broke out. The investigation also uncovered that Wistort’s chiropractic license had expired on Aug. 31.  Police found personal documents that indicated Wistort was planning his death.

Evidence collected at the scene indicated the fire had been intentionally set.

The investigation into the arson is ongoing.
