Preparations are underway for the 249th annual York Fair. Organizers unveiled the 2014 butter sculpture during a sneak peek Thursday evening. The sculpture was created by Jim Victor and Marie Pelton. It commemorates the 250th anniversary of the York Fair, which is next year.

The scene depicts the first York Fair in 1765 and shows a woman and her family in a horse-drawn carriage, a fitting tribute to the biggest celebration of York County's heritage and agriculture.

The 300- pound butter sculpture is made from Land O' Lakes butter from the Carlisle Plant. It took the couple two weeks to construct. Visitors can see the sculpture in Memorial Hall.

This is the third year for the butter sculpture.

The York Fair kicks off Friday at 11 a.m. and runs for ten days.

Something new this year,  a bar code system will be used to scan gate and concert tickets to avoid any duplicates.
