HUMMELSTOWN, Pa. (WPMT)- A 38-year-old man was arrested Wednesday while trying to run from police after he attempted to kill a woman in Hummelstown, investigators said.

Paul John Debor Jr., of Hummelstown, is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, fleeing or attempting to elude police, criminal mischief, terroristic threats, reckless endangerment, simple assault, failing to obey traffic control signals, reckless driving and disregarding traffic lanes.

Police responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 200 lock of E. Second Street around 3:50 p.m. Wednesday. As officers were responding to the incident–they spotted Debor driving west on E. Main Street in a green Dodge Caravan.

Police attempted to pull Debor over–but he refused to stop, authorities said.  The chase ended when Debor drove his vehicle into a telephone pole along Route 743 in South Hanover Township, police said.

Debor tried to run from police on foot–but was quickly taken into custody.

The investigation uncovered that Debor had threatened to kill a woman and hit her several times with a baseball bat. He also attempted to choke her with an electrical cord, a towel and his hands. The woman suffered injuries to her face, hands, body, arms and legs.

Debor was taken to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 24.
