Man shot in the foot in York Thursday evening

York City Police are asking for the public’s help in solving a late night shooting. It happened just before 10:00p.m. Thursday night in the area of School Place and Hawthorne Street police said.

When police arrived on scene, officers did not find a victim but they did recover several shell casings near the intersection.

A short time later, York Hospital reported Andrew Selby, 18, of York,  showed up to the emergency room with a gunshot wound to the foot.

After a short investigation, police determined that Selby was walking in the area of School Place and Hawthorne when he was approached by a black male dressed in dark clothing.

Selby told police that the suspect tried to call him over, but he ignored him. Selby claims  the suspect then fired 5-6 shots at him, striking him in the foot.

Selby is recovering at the hospital with non-life threatening injuries police said.
