STAYING QUIET

Calm start to the work week

High pressure remains in control through the beginning of the week, keeping our weather quiet overall. By the evening hours, temperatures quickly fall. There are just a few clouds. It’s a cool and comfortable night, with lows in the 50s. Monday the sunshine continues, but clouds thicken during the afternoon hours as an easterly flow sets up. Highs reach the middle to upper 70s. By Tuesday, high pressure slides off to the northeast. A disturbance forming off of the Mid-Atlantic coast will work with the high to continue the easterly flow. This keeps plenty of clouds in the forecast, with some sprinkles and drizzly areas likely too. Temperatures remain below average in the 70s.

NEXT STORM CHANCE

By Wednesday, expect a warmer day with the sunshine breaking back out, but the humidity also increases. Highs will be near 80 degrees. Though it’s mainly dry ahead of our next system, a stray shower is possible. A very potent cold front by September standards swings down into the region on Thursday, bringing our next chance for showers and thunderstorms. High temperatures reach the upper 70s to lower 80s.

EARLY AUTUMN COOLING

Unseasonably cool air begins to arrive Friday. This holds afternoon high temperatures in the upper 70s. Clouds bubble up during the afternoon hours too. By Saturday and Sunday, we’ll experience an early taste of autumn once the unseasonably cool air mass settles over our area. Temperatures only reach the upper 60s to lower 70s. Having so much cool air aloft this time of year will quickly bubble up plenty of clouds by the afternoon. After a chilly start on Sunday, afternoon high temperatures reach the lower 70s.

Have a great week!
