Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane today announced that a convicted child predator in York County has been sentenced to 25 to 50 years in prison, and five suspected child predators were arrested on unrelated charges across the Commonwealth.

The arrests of suspected predators are part of the Attorney General’s ongoing efforts to combat the online sexual exploitation of children. Those announced today include defendants from Butler, Northampton, Westmoreland and York counties.

Sentencing of Eddie Junior Mort II in York County

On Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, Eddie Junior Mort II was sentenced to 25 to 50 years of prison in a State Correctional Institution stemming from a successful investigation and prosecution by Attorney General Kane’s Child Predator Section.

In June 2013, he was charged with three counts of sexual abuse of children for distributing child pornography, seven counts of sexual abuse of children for possessing child pornography and one count of criminal use of a communication facility. At the time, Mort was already listed on Pennsylvania Megan’s Law and the National Sex Offender websites as a registered sex offender.

Mort had been convicted on all charges following trial on April 28, 2014 and was also found to be a Sexually Violent Predator by the court prior to his sentencing.

Mort was prosecuted in York County by Senior Deputy Attorney General Christopher Jones.

Arrest of Christopher Cullen Lorenz of Butler County

Christopher Cullen Lorenz, 44, 1429 Grant Ave. Ext., East Butler, Butler County, was arrested on Friday, Sept. 5, 2014 by the Child Predator Section for sharing and possessing child pornography depicting children as young as 6 years of age, according to the criminal complaint.

After agents conducting an online investigation identified a user possessing and sharing child pornography, a search warrant was executed at the residence where the IP address was registered. According to the criminal complaint, agents recovered multiple computers and electronic devices during the search.

The devices were examined by forensic experts from the Child Predator Section on scene and a preliminary review revealed more than 600 files in various formats with file names indicative of child pornographic content.

Lorenz is charged with two counts of sexual abuse of children for distributing child pornography, 15 counts of sexual abuse of children for possessing child pornography and one count of criminal use of a communication facility.

Attorney General Kane thanked the troopers of the Pennsylvania State Police for its assistance. Lorenz will be prosecuted in Butler County by Deputy Attorney General Anthony Marmo of the Child Predator Section.

Arrest of Albert Mirabella of York County

According to the criminal complaint, Albert Mirabella, 68, 2055 Tall Fir Drive, Dover, York County, allegedly used peer-to-peer networks to distribute and download apparent child pornography.

Agents discovered Mirabella’s alleged activity while conducting an undercover online investigation. A search warrant was executed at his residence and apparent child pornography was found on a computer in his basement. A forensic search revealed a sampling of 25 images and a video of apparent child pornography on his device, according to the criminal complaint.

Mirabella is charged with one count of sexual abuse of children for distributing child pornography, 25 counts of sexual abuse of children for possessing child pornography and one count of criminal use of a communication facility.

Attorney General Kane thanked the Northern York Regional Police Department for their assistance. Mirabella will be prosecuted in York County by Senior Deputy Attorney General Christopher Jones of the Child Predator Section.

Arrest of Gregory Michael Maus of York County

Gregory Michael Maus, 47, 3720 Davisburg Road, Dover, York County was arrested after an undercover online investigation revealed his alleged use of peer-to-peer networks to share apparent child pornography, according to the criminal complaint.

The charges state that agents from the Attorney General’s Child Predator Section performed a search warrant at Maus’ residence on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014. Apparent child pornography was located on a computer and thumb drive, both belonging to Maus, after agents performed a forensic preview of the devices.

Maus is charged with two counts of sexual abuse of children for distributing child pornography, ten counts of sexual abuse of children for possessing child pornography and one count of criminal use of a communication facility.

He will be prosecuted in York County by Senior Deputy Attorney General Christopher Jones of the Child Predator Section.

Arrest of Adam Paul Shive of Northampton County

On Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014, agents from the Child Predator Section arrested Adam Paul Shive, 32, 238 W. Goepp St., Bethlehem, Northampton County, for alleged distribution and possession of apparent child pornography following an undercover investigation into the sharing of child pornography on peer-to-peer networks.

Shive’s Goepp St. apartment was searched after a warrant was obtained, according to the criminal complaint. One of Shive’s computers allegedly contained at least 25 images of apparent child pornography. It was previewed and examined by agents of the Office of Attorney General’s Computer Forensics Unit.

Shive is charged with one count of sexual abuse of children for distributing child pornography, 25 counts of sexual abuse of children for possessing child pornography and one count of criminal use of a communication facility.

Attorney General Kane thanked the Bethlehem Police Department for its assistance with the arrest.

Shive will be prosecuted in Northampton County by Deputy Attorney General Rebecca Elo of the Child Predator Section.

York County predator sentenced 25 to 50 years in prison

Arrest of Charles Bell of Westmoreland County

Charles F. Bell, 68, 6812 Italy Road, Export, Westmoreland County, faces multiple felony charges for allegedly using peer-to-peer networks to distribute and download apparent child pornography under the alias “cooldad46,” according to the criminal complaint.

Bell was arrested on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014, at his home after agents executed a search warrant. During the search, a computer tower was located actively playing a pornographic video. The charges state that more than 50 video files with names indicative of child pornographic content were found on the computer.

Bell is charged with three counts of sexual abuse of children for distributing child pornography, three counts of sexual abuse of children for possessing child pornography and one count of criminal use of a communication facility.

Attorney General Kane thanked the troopers of the Pennsylvania State Police for its assistance. Bell will be prosecuted in Westmoreland County by Deputy Attorney General Anthony Marmo of the Child Predator Section.
