And your new Miss America is… Miss New York, Kira Kazantsev.
This is now the third straight year that a contestant from New York state has taken home the pageant’s top prize.
23-year-old Kazantsev is originally from California, but moved to New York for college.
She is s a strong advocate for domestic violence survivors and plans to speak out against domestic violence during her yearlong reign as Miss America.
Kazantsev says she plans to attend law school with the $50,000 scholarship won from the pageant.
