Officials with the Pennsylvania State Police said whoever shot and killed a trooper and wounded another is “a coward and we will get you” reports WNEP.
Corporal Bryon Dickson was killed and Trooper Alex Douglass was wounded and remains in the hospital.
The weapon is believed to be a .308 caliber rifle and the shooter may have had issues with the Blooming Grove barracks in the past.
Police officials believe the shooter may be a resident of Pike County with extensive firearms training.
“You’re a coward. You committed this spineless act and attacked defenseless troopers, shot them. They had no opportunity to defend themselves,” said Lt. Col. George Bivens, Deputy Commissioner Of Operations, Pennsylvania State Police.
Governor Corbett stopped by the barracks today saying, “Nobody’s going to let a minute go by that they’re not investigating this until we bring this individual whoever did this to justice.”
The FBI along with law enforcement in several nearby states have joined the investigation.
The reward for information leading to an arrest has been raised to $75,000. The tip line number is 866-326-7256.
