STEELTON, Pa. (WPMT)-A man was caught Tuesday while trying to hide from police in a bathroom during an attempted burglary in Steelton, authorities said.

Daniel Velez Rivera, 22, of Harrisburg, is charged with burglary and receiving stolen property.

Officers were called to the first block of North Harrisburg Street around 2:15 p.m. for a report of a burglary in progress. A neighbor told police that they saw a suspicious man climb through the rear window of the home.

Investigators entered the home and found Rivera hiding behind a bathroom door. He was wearing gloves and had numerous pieces of jewelery in his possession, police said.

Rivera admitted to the burglary and told police he had parked a black Ford Escape in front of the home. Turns out–the vehicle was reported stolen in Steelton from a previous burglary on Sept. 12.

Authorities searched the stolen vehicle and found a safe and flat screen TV that had been reported stolen from a home in Swatara Township.

Police believe Rivera may be linked to as many as 13 burglaries in Steelton and Swatara Townships.

He was taken to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
