Ephrata Police say someone used phony prop money to buy goods at an Ephrata convenience store in Lancaster County.

Police said an unidentified convenience reported that a clerk accepted two fake $20 bills on Tuesday night. Police said the money is labeled “For Motion Picture Use Only,” is off-color and has forged portraits.

Ephrata police are asking local businesses to make staff aware of the fake money being used.

“Subjects passing this money may attempt to hurry the transaction or distract the clerk during the transaction to avoid detection of the prop money,” police said in a news release.
