Motorists are advised that westbound traffic on Interstate 78 headed to southbound Interstate 81 will be restricted to a single lane over the weekend through the I-78/I-81 interchange in Union Township, Lebanon County, starting tonight at 7 p.m.

The portion of the right lane that will be closed to traffic over the weekend is located on westbound I-78 between the ramp for northbound I-81 and the merge onto southbound I-81.

The weekend lane restriction is necessary so that construction crews can excavate and remove several large sections of pavement (each roughly 200 feet in length), replace the stone subbase, and repave with rapid-set concrete. Westbound I-78 through the interchange should be restored to two lanes of traffic before 6 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 29.

This concrete patching operation is being conducted for PennDOT by Pennsy Supply, Inc. of Annville, Pennsylvania.

Motorists are asked to be alert to this operation and to slow down when approaching and traveling through the work zone, for their safety as well as for the safety of the construction crews. Motorists should also be alert for traffic queues and allow additional time in their travel plans in order to avoid delays.
