Memorial Ride, events to benefit family of police officer

A Memorial Motorcycle Ride kicked off this morning from Rexroth Park in Lower Windsor Township. Riders will end their trip at the York Fairgrounds where a number of events are planned. The ride and other events, including raffles, games and live music, are part of the Officer David A. Kennedy, Jr. Memorial Event is sponsored by the Lower Windsor Township Police Officers’ Association. Kennedy died earlier this year. All proceeds from the event will benefit his family.


Among the bands playing are national headliners Jimmie’s Chicken Shack, along with Carving Out Fiction, Heron in Red, Bullet Method, Coal and York County’s great new country star singer-songwriter Kayla Kroh.  Tickets for the event are $20 with a half price ticket for children 11 to 17 and free admission for children under ten. Grandstand gates open at 11am. The kids will enjoy a Bounce House, smoke house, face painting, May Day Games and an air ambulance helicopter display.  The public will find a mechanical bull, great food vendors and beer for those over 21.
