Makenzie Schultz posted an image to her Facebook page of a receipt with a generous tip she and her husband, Steven, gave. But the reason behind the tip has gone viral.
As of Monday morning, the image has had more than 1.2 million likes and been shared nearly 140,000 times.
Schultz said the service at the unnamed restaurant “sucked,” which usually means bad tips for the server. How bad? Try 20 minutes for water. Forty minutes for an appetizer and more than an hour for the entree.
“People all around us were making fun of the restaurant & how bad the service was,” the Facebook post explained.
They left a $100 tip, with a note stating: “We’ve both been in your shoes. Paying it forward. 🙂 “
