Stolen banjo returned to rightful owner after 33 years

SILVER SPRING TOWNSHIP (WPMT)-A banjo that was stolen during a burglary in Cumberland County more than 30 years ago has been returned to its rightful owner, police said.

According to investigators, the banjo worth $2,500 was stolen from a Silver Spring Township home in 1981. Authorities said a Good Samaritan discovered the instrument was stolen after looking up a serial number that was engraved on the side of it.

The unidentified Good Samaritan has since returned the banjo to the burglary victim.

Police said other items that were stolen in the burglary have not been recovered.
