PennDOT District 8 today announced that at 7 p.m. tonight construction crews will restrict traffic on westbound I-78 near I-81 in order to excavate and remove several large sections of pavement, replace the stone subbase, and repave with rapid-set concrete.
The westbound right lane of I-78 will be closed this weekend between the ramp for I-81 North and the merge onto I-81 South in Union Township, Lebanon County. I-78 West through the interchange should be restored to two lanes of traffic before 6 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 12.
This concrete patching operation is being conducted for PennDOT by Pennsy Supply, Inc. of Annville, Pennsylvania.
Motorists are asked to be alert to this operation and to slow down when approaching and traveling through the work zone, for their safety as well as for the safety of the construction crews.
An average of nearly 15,270 vehicles travel this section of I-78 West every day. To avoid delays, motorists should be alert for traffic queues and allow for additional time in their travel plans or seek an alternate route.
