Governor Tom Corbett met some local veterans as part of a special send-off.

The governor met with his fellow veterans in York as they prepared to leave on a bus trip to visit war memorials in Washington, D.C. He talked to them about their trip, and extended his appreciation for their service.

The Rotary Club of York and the Honor Flight Network partnered up to organize the trip for 40 WWII and Korean War Veterans.

"There's a tremendous number of veterans and the York community is very supportive of our veterans, they really do reach out and support them, and embrace them and celebrate them," Honor Flight Committee Chairman and U.S. Army Veteran J.T. Hand  said.

Organizers say it's an opportunity to give back to the people who have done so much for the community and the nation. This is the 4th trip the Honor Flight has made from York County to D.C.
