MANHEIM Twp., Pa.(WPMT) – Police search for a suspect in an attempted child abduction in Lancaster County.  It happened at about 6:10 pm Monday at the Sweetbriar Apartment Complex along the 1900 block of Oregon Pike in Manheim Township.

Police say a 10 year girl and her three year old brother were walking their dog in the pool area of the apartment complex when a man ran towards them. The man picked up the boy and then started to carry him away. The boy’s sister gave chase yelling and screaming, as was the boy.  The man put the boy down and ran away. He was last seen running east towards Crooked Oak Drive. The children quickly reported the incident to their parent, who immediately called 911. Neither child was injured.

Officers arriving on the scene immediately canvassed the apartment complex and the surrounding neighborhood.

The suspect is described as a hispanic male, in his mid 30’s, about 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a thin build and clean shaven. He was wearing a brown shirt with a black vest.  He was also carrying a black backpack with green zippers.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Manheim Township Police at (717) 569-6401 or the Anonymous Crime Tipline at (717) 569-2816.
