Police: Infant hospitalized after abduction in Lancaster City
LANCASTER (WPMT)-A 34-year-old man is in custody after investigators say he abducted his 1-month-old daughter from his ex-girlfriend’s home in Lancaster City early Tuesday.
Officers responded to Lancaster General Hospital around 3:27 a.m. after an infant was brought in with a laceration to her neck. At the same time–investigators were called to Queen and Frederick Streets for a report of a disturbance.
Authorities said the unidentified man entered his ex-girlfriend’s home along the first block of Frederick Street, grabbed the infant from the woman and fled the house with the baby. Investigators said the man is the father of the child.
The infant’s mother chased after the man and caught up with him near the Lancaster General Hospital parking garage. After she was able to get the baby away from him–she noticed the infant had a large laceration along her jaw line. The woman carried the baby to the hospital where she was later transferred to Penn State Hershey Medical Center for surgery, police said.
Officers arrested the baby’s father near Duke and Walnut Street. He is currently being held at the Lancaster City police station. So far, no charges have been filed. The investigation is ongoing.
