A local group is asking for your help in raising walls and roofs for families in need.

On Friday, York Habitat for Humanity continued construction on their latest homes at 415-417 West Princess Street in York, but they are still looking for more helping hands.

It's part of "Blitz Week" where more than 100 volunteers come together for five days to build affordable homes for families in need. Organizers say no experience is needed to be a volunteer and that helping someone is rewarding.

"There's a huge need for changing the sub-standard housing and blight that exists here in York City," York Habitat Volunteer Coordinate Kim Anthony said, "York Habitat is a great resource to the community for development and making people homeowners who are invested not only in their home but the community here, so we're able to, what we say, 'build better lives one home at a time.'"

"Blitz Week" started on Tuesday and ends this Saturday, but construction for the project will continue every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. If you're interested in volunteering, you can register at York Habitat for Humanity's website by clicking here.
