What do cars, toasters, and eye glasses have in common?
They can all be recycled.
York Habitat for Humanity collected everything from phones to VCR's to glasses Saturday afternoon in Red Lion, York County. It was part of "America Recycles Day."
It's a national campaign that brings attention to the benefits of recycling, while encouraging others to take part in the process.
"People don't realize actually by incorrectly throwing away items, they're actually doing more harm to the Earth than they would if they actually educated themselves and took the time to put it in the proper facility," says Kennedy Barba, Community Relations Coordinator with York Habitat for Humanity.
Eye glasses that were donated will be given to the Lion's Club and sent to permanent eye clinics around the world. Phones will be given to domestic violence victims with emergency contact information programmed into them.
