COLD NOVEMBER RAIN: It’s better as a song than what you’ll walk out the door to on this Monday. Rain showers are around for daybreak, but the steady, heavier rain will roll through from about 8AM til 2PM today. Scattered showers linger through late afternoon and early evening, especially farther east. Before we’re done, we’ll pick up a half inch to an inch of cold rain. It looks like the really cold air waits until the precip shuts off, so any wintry mix looks unlikely. Highs today will top out in the upper 40s to near 50° as some warm air nudges in with the system.
The cold air blasts in on strong northwesterly winds later this evening into tonight. Watch for any wet spots that don’t dry out form the winds to turn icy by daybreak. Temperatures plummet to the lower 20s tonight.
ARCTIC CHILL: Tuesday will be a near record day. The coldest high temperature recorded on this day is 30° back in 1959. We’re forecasting a high of 30°. Our average high this time of year is 52°, with the coldest average high in mid-January only at 37°. So, that’s a flavor of the unusual chill on Tuesday. We’re windy as well, which will make the day feel like we’re in the 20s! It’s mostly cloudy and blustery.
We don’t escape too easily either. Wednesday we start the day in the chilly teens. We only top out in the middle 30s under partly cloudy skies. Thursday and Friday, we’re in the upper 30s to near 40°. A system brings us some clouds and perhaps some flurries on Thursday, with more sunshine by Friday.
WEEKEND: It looks like a sunny, cold and dry Saturday with highs near 40°. Sunday, our next system races toward us form the south. It brings the chance for some showers later. Highs will reach the middle 40s though.
