Clear resolution to end Government shutdown not in sight

WASHINGTON, DC (WPMT) – A victory for opponents of the Keystone XL pipeline.  The proposal fell short of the 60 vote threshold for approval in the Democratic party dominated U.S. Senate late Tuesday.  The final vote was 59 to 41.  The controversial Keystone XL pipeline would carry tar sands oil from Alberta, Canada to the Gulf of Mexico.

The Republican majority U.S. House had earlier approved its version of the measure.  The White House, leading up to the Senate vote, had indicated a Presidential veto if the bill had been passed.
