SUSQUEHANNA TOWNSHIP (WPMT)-Former Susquehanna Township High School assistant principal Shawn Sharkey pleaded guilty Wednesday to institutional sexual assault, corruption of minors and unlawful contact with a minor, according to the Dauphin County District Attorney’s office.

Sharkey is expected to be sentenced on Feb. 18 after he admitted to having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old female student in 2013.

According to court documents, Sharkey met the student shortly after he began working at the school in January 2013. The relationship was continued from February through March, according to an affidavit. Sharkey would arrange to pick up the girl in his car and the pair would then drive to local motels to engage in sexual activity, investigators said.

He resigned shortly after being charged in Sept. 2013.

Dauphin County President Judge Hoover  accepted Sharkey’s guilty plea Wednesday. Judge Hoover ordered Sharkey to be evaluated by the Sexual Offender Assessment Board to determine if he should be classified as a sexually violent predator.
