The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Harrisburg says Trevoen Renel Parkins was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in prison for taking a girl from Franklin County to Buffalo, New York, for sex.

Prosecutors say Parkins, who’s from Buffalo, met the 12-year-old girl online, and in April 2013, he traveled to Franklin County, waited for her to get out of school and then drove with her to Buffalo.

U.S. Attorney Peter Smith says the girl’s parents did not know she was going to leave. While in Buffalo, prosecutors say Parkins statutorily raped the girl twice.

In a news release, the U.S. Attorney’s Office says, “Telephone records led law enforcement to Parkins who lied to police about the girl’s whereabouts and hid the girl for three days before she was ultimately located by police in a closet inside Parkins’ girlfriend’s apartment.”

Parkins pleaded guilty to a charge of transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity on July 13.
