FRANKLIN COUNTY, PA.(WPMT)- A fatal head on crash with entrapment in Franklin County.  It happened just after 5 o’clock along the 2900 block of the Cumberland Highway(Route 997) near Scotland Main Street, in Greene Township.

State Police say a dark colored van pulled out in front of a northbound vehicle on Route 997.  The driver of the vehicle swerved to avoid a collision with the van, crossed the center-line and struck a southbound vehicle head-on.

The driver of the southbound vehicle was killed.  The driver of the northbound vehicle was flown to Hershey Medical Center.  A passenger in that same vehicle was transported via ambulance to Chambersburg Hospital.  The driver of the van did not stop and left the scene. Anyone who may have seen the crash and/or have information on the dark colored van is asked to contact the PSP Chambersburg barracks at (717) 264-5161.

Police are withholding the names of the victims pending notification of next of kin. The 2900 block of the Cumberland Highway is expected to be closed for hours while Pennsylvania State Police conduct their investigation.

Head-on crash after head-on crash after head-on crash.
Anyone checking cell phone records. For the most part, all we hear about is the announcement of crashes. We get statistics months and years later. Good talking points are when it’s fresh in our mind like the truck crash yesterday that killed two after the driver fell asleep. Something for truckers to talk about today.
