A standoff ends peacefully in East Hopewell Township this morning after several hours of negotiations. State Police were called to a home in the 15000 block of Laurel Road shortly after 1am. A man was threatening to do harm to himself and potentially others, according to family members who made the call.

State Troopers responded to the location and tried to make contact with the male subject. The man refused to respond in anyway. Police say he made no threats to law enforcement.  Family members applied for and received approval for an Involuntary Mental Health Commitment. York County Crisis Intervention then requested the warrant to be served by the Pennsylvania State Police.   The PSP Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) was activated and after several hours, the SERT team was able to successfully negotiate the male’s surrender for treatment.   There were no injuries.
