PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MD. – It seems like a nice holiday surprise, but it may just be a scam reports WJLA.  The Maryland Attorney General’s office is warning shoppers about scammers leaving $100 bill on windshields to lure drivers out of their cars.

The cash, which may not even be real money, is just a distraction. The scammer waits for the driver to get out of the car, and then jumps in and drives away.

“This is the holiday shopping time. This is when the criminals are going to come out. This is when the scam artists are coming out,” Asst. Attorney General – Consumer Protection Karen Straughn said. “They’re trying to get your money and trying to get your safety in any way they can.”
