…A WINTER STORM WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR OUR AREA ON WEDNESDAY FROM 4AM UNTIL MIDNIGHT THURSDAY FOR ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL TO IMPACT HOLIDAY TRAVEL…
SEASONAL: After a record warm Monday, cooler air slowly slides into the state today. We’re only going to get to the low 50s, closer to seasonal averages. It’s partly cloudy with a breeze at times today. Tonight, we drop to the middle 30s. That’s when the storm begins to move in.
WEDNESDAY’S STORM: Our system looks to arrive in the pre-dawn hours, ramping up through the day. The storm will start as some rain and snow mix, with a changeover to all snow through midday. Expect higher accumulations in the elevations and on grassy areas. Roads will at times turn sloppy on the busiest travel day of the year. It all ends by evening. Below are the specifics.
>TIMING: 6AM-6PM
>TYPE: Mix until about 10AM, then all snow until 6PM
>ACCUMS: 4” likely for most, up to 8” for elevations and sweet spots
>TRAVEL: Moderate impact, warm ground and treatments may be able to keep up with snow rate early; however, slushy areas and slick spots are likely as we move toward afternoon.
THANKSGIVING: It’s cold for your Thanksgiving Day plans. Expect mostly cloudy skies and some flakes through the day. We’ll top out in the upper 30s. Travel looks good across the Northeast through the day too.
FRIDAY SHOPPERS: Dress warmly to wait in line. A cold start to the day with a breeze is expected. Temps will be in the middle 20s. Then highs climb to the middle 30s with mostly sunny skies with a cold breeze.
WEEKEND: Saturday looks mostly cloudy and a bit cold. Highs are nearing 40°. Sunday, we warm to near 50° under mostly cloudy skies. A few drops are possible late. Showers are possible into Monday.
