The holiday shopping season is officially underway as hundreds of people braved the cold weather to get their hands on some great Black Friday deals.

At Best Buy in East York, a line wrapped around the building as shoppers waited for the doors to open at 8:00 a.m.

Meanwhile, at other stores across the area, like Kohl's and Target, shoppers say they were surprised by the lack of crowds this year.

Many of them say, regardless of the turnout, for them Black Friday is all about sharing the experience with their family and friends.
"The rush of people coming and going; it's just fun to me," said shopper Bekka Cuadro.  "It's exhilarating."

Many stores like Best Buy and Kohl's will remain open until midnight.

The normal ways to “share experiences with family and friends” are anniversary and birthday parties, picnics and reunions in parks, Facebook and You Tube, the Superbowl and movie-night, etc. But thank you for clogging the streets and stores. It provided me some quality time at home.
