The 17-year-old left New Cumberland to go hunting on the islands on the Susquehanna River. His family retraced his steps there on his second day missing. River Rescue also set out from the Steelton Boat Launch.
The boy was last seen by a witness paddling down the river at about 2:30 on Monday. The family says his cell phone last hit a cell tower at 3:45 that day.
Searchers recovered his canoe and backpack on Tuesday.
"Those are the two clues that we found, we are out on the island still searching, and we have hope," says the teen's aunt, Margaret Brady.
His family is asking for volunteers to join them in the search at the South New Market Boat Launch in New Cumberland, Cumberland County at 8 a.m. Thursday morning.
"We'd like any volunteers that are willing to come out, especially those people that have boats because we need people to search in the water, as well," says Brady.
The family asks volunteers to bring boats, and wear life jackets. They also ask those that search on land to wear orange for safety.
