A few businesses in Lower Paxton Township, Dauphin County are working together to save lives during the holiday season. Through the program, “Holiday Alert Cab” customers are able to get home safely and free of charge. The complimentary cab rides are a partnership between various organizations including American Taxi, Wilsbach Distributors, the Lower Paxton Township Police Department. Organizers say Holiday Alert Cab helps in the fight against drunk driving by ensuring free rides home to those who drink too much during the holidays.

Lower Paxton Police Lieutenant, Gary Seefeldt says, "Too many people consider the car they drove is the only way to get home. That's not the case. this program may have a way to get home. All they have to do is ask the bartender and they'll give them a ride and no trouble."

The manager of American Taxi says their cars are available 24 hours a day. He says there's a 20% increase in cab calls this time of year. Around 30 bars are in Lower Paxton Township. The program begins on December 15th and runs through January 7th.
