Police in Lebanon are investigating a shots fired incident that happened Tuesday just after 9:30 p.m.

According to police,the incident happened in the area of 9th and Monument Streets. When officers arrived on scene, they did not locate any injured person but they were able to locate shell casings.

Police say they later met up with the 22-year-old shooter, along the 300 block of North 8th Street. The shooter who is  from Reading told police he was in the area with a friend to get something to eat when he was approached by two men. One of the men punched him and said he wanted to fight.

The man told police he then pulled out his gun and fired a single shot into the air. The two men then fled the scene.

Police say the shooter was legal to carry a firearm and had a valid weapons permit.

Police seized the firearm as the investigation is ongoing and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Lebanon City Police Department at 717-272-6611.
