WEEKEND STAYS QUIET

Increasing sunshine for Sunday

A system crossing well south of the area tonight into Sunday is responsible for the clouds we’ve seen all day. This means we can expect the clouds to hang around through the night. It’s a frigid morning, with lows in the middle to upper 20s. This system exits quickly Sunday morning, so the clouds swiftly fade and allow sunshine to return. Highs are in the upper 30s to lower 40s on Sunday.

UNSETTLED NEXT WEEK

Increasing sunshine for Sunday

The atmospheric pattern becomes more active next week, but it looks to bring rain chances to the area as opposed to snow chances. On Monday, a shower will be possible for the area as a weak coastal system drifts nearby. A developing storm system for the middle of the week looks to bring a good soaking to the region, and will put a damper on holiday travels for many. Tuesday, some showers are possible, but the day should not be a washout. However, Wednesday, Christmas Eve, mild temperatures and a good soaking rain are likely. Temperatures will be running above seasonable averages in the upper 40s Tuesday and in the middle 50s on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day looks quieter. Colder air plunges in behind Wednesday’s storm, bringing plenty of clouds and a few flurries or sprinkles. Highs are in the upper 30s to lower 40s.

STAYING MILD

It looks like the milder pattern remains in place heading into next weekend. Friday, expect sunshine and clouds. It’s a quiet day, with temperatures a bit above seasonal averages in the middle 40s. Saturday, a cold arrives, and draws even milder air ahead of it. High temperatures reach the upper 40s to lower 50s with a chance for showers.
