Another frigid day on the Susquehanna and still no sign of Medard Kowalski.

The 17-year-old left in a canoe to go hunting along the river on December 1st.

He never returned home.

"He was a good athlete and he enjoyed being out in the wilderness and everything and if he had an opportunity to just go sit out in his boat for a little bit, that's what he did,” said Tim Dickson, a Kowalski family friend.

For the past three weeks hundreds of people, including teams with the New Cumberland River Rescue, have combed the area both on land and water.

Their search is now a recovery effort.

"It's definitely taken a toll on friends, family, everybody. This whole community has pulled together like nothing I've ever seen,” added Dickson.

Last week, searchers got a small break after cadaver dogs were able to narrow the search to an area near the New Market Boat Launch in Cumberland County.

Certified divers spent hours over the weekend searching that area, but unfortunately their efforts were unsuccessful.
"We're going to continue to search until we bring little Med home,” Dickson said.

Day 22 of the search is officially underway.
