RAPHO TOWNSHIP, PA (WPMT)  State Police say a couple from Etters, York County died in a violent crash Tuesday night at milepost 265.3 of Pennsylvania Turnpike in Rapho Township, Lancaster County.

Emilio Lancione 64 and his wife, Elizabeth, 63,  were westbound in their 2004 Subaru Outback when it suddenly left the highway, went down an embankment, slammed into a tree and caught fire. The Lancione, both sitting in the front seats were entrapped by the crash.

Two passengers in the vehicle, Jana Murray, 36 and a 10 year old child were also entrapped in the badly mangled car. Both were freed by Police and Turnpike Safety employees who smashed through the rear windows of the car. Passerby Good Samaritans aided the effort, using fire extinguishers to knock down the flames.  Both Murray and the child suffered major injuries.

It took emergency crews about an hour to free the Lancione’s from the wreckage. They were both taken to Hershey Medical Center where they died from their injuries.
