This week marks one year since the homicide of Timothy “Asti” Davison, and Pennsylvania State Police continue to seek the public’s help regarding information pertaining to the homicide.
On Saturday, January 4, 2014 at approximately 2 am, Davison, from Poland, Maine, was traveling north on I-81 towards the MD/PA line. Davison contacted 911 and reported he was being chased by another motorist who was shooting at him. The chasing vehicle, described as a Ford Ranger pick-up truck, dark lapis blue in color, rammed Davison’s vehicle into the median near Mile Marker #3, in Franklin County. The unknown suspect got out of the truck and fired several times into Davison’s vehicle, killing him. The suspect fled the scene, driving south on I-81. The suspect vehicle likely had visible driver’s side or front-end damage.
Lieutenant Jonathan Mays, Commander, Criminal Investigation Section, Troop H-Harrisburg says “Even though it has been one year, we have never stopped investigating this case. We still are committed to solving this homicide and giving the family of Timothy Davison peace of mind.”
Mays also says “This has been an extremely difficult case. We continue to seek, collect, and analyze evidence using all means available to us. We also continue to receive and follow up on tips. We encourage the public to share any information they may have”.
In an effort to renew exposure to the case, the PA State Police is working with PennDot to come up with alternate ideas to help bring this incident back into the public spotlight. Planning is in the works to utilize PennDot’s Twitter and Facebook accounts to help spread the below message –
“The Pennsylvania State Police continue to seek information about a fatal road rage shooting incident that occurred on January 4, 2014 along Interstate 81between Exit 3 and Exit 5 in southern Franklin County. The suspect may have been driving a Blue Ford Ranger-style Truck. A substantial reward has been offered and anyone with information regarding the incident should call the PA Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1-800-4PA-TIPS. The PA State Police and PennDOT encourage motorists to avoid aggressive driving, buckle up every time, and always drive safely.”
“We appreciate PennDot’s cooperation and willingness to help us get this important information out there and we continue to have discussions on other possible methods to do so,” said Mays.
The family of Timothy Davison has also been heavily involved. They received permission from the Mason Dixon Auto Auction, Chambersburg, Pa, to place an informational banner on their fence. This fence runs along the western side of I-81, across from where the homicide took place. The family, with the help of friends, has also been placing informational flyers at businesses, truck stops, and rest areas throughout the area that Davison travelled on 01/04/14.
“We hope the extra exposure will raise someone’s memory or give courage to those with information to come forward if they have been hesitant to do so,” Mays said.
