Law enforcement officials across the country were honored Saturday in Cumberland County.

The blue light beam radiated over the town of Carlisle. It symbolizes the thin blue line that police represent between chaos and order. Two of Carlisle's former mayors say police need to know they are respected and their efforts are appreciated.

"Every day they go off to work and family members never know if they're going to come home safe or not and that's what we have to remember; They're out keeping our community safe and we need to keep them safe also," said Carlisle Borough Councilwoman Linda Cecconello.

The Fraternal Order of Eagles of Carlisle -- longtime supporters of law enforcement -- donated $725 dollars to cover the event's cost.
