(HLNtv.com) — Facebook users all over the world are sharing photos of their dogs to bring a little joy into a Phoenix teen’s life.

Anthony Lyons, 16, is undergoing chemotherapy treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

Lyons loves when therapy dogs visit his hospital room, but the dogs can’t come every day. So family friend Roberta Lucero-Koron set up a Facebook event called “Photo Doggies for Anthony” and invited people to share photos of their dogs.

“I thought if I create this event, you can post a picture of your dog to help make him smile,” she posted on Facebook.

Well, Anthony Lyons and his mom, Kristen Lyons, are smiling a lot, as the Facebook event has received more than 500,000 photos of dogs from around the world. His mom is overwhelmed with the response.

“I am amazed at how quickly this event has blown up and it makes me so happy to know how many people enjoy their pets as much as Anthony and I do,” she wrote on the Facebook event. “This just shows what great people animal lovers are and we are really feeling the love from you and your pets in this difficult time.”
