LANCASTER, PA (WPMT) — A Lancaster man is charged with plotting an ambush shooting of two City Police officers. Akeem Washington, 30, was arrested by two City Police Officers and a Police Sergeant along the first block of N. Queen Street at about 1:37 am on December 28, 2014.  Washington allegedly made verbal threats to his arresting Sergeant upon their arrival at the police station.  He was subsequently charged with Terroristic Threats, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct and Public Drunkenness and sent to Lancaster County Prison.

The next day, December 29, Detectives began investigating information from county prison staff that an inmate was planning to kill three City Police officers.

Detectives learned that Washington had made threatening statements about the officers who arrested him indicating that he wanted to kill the officers and the Sergeant.  He reportedly said that when he got out of jail he was going to make a fake call to lure the two officers to an area and then shoot them with an automatic rifle. He also said that he had access to an AK47 and AR15 rifle.

Washington allegedly  attempted to recruit another inmate to make an anonymous call to lure police to an area so he could shoot up their car. He also stated that he was going to shoot up the police station. And that he wanted to follow his arresting Sergeant to his home and shoot and any members of the officers family.

Detectives say he repeated specific requests to the other inmate in an attempt to solicit help including asking the inmate to act as a look out and offering the inmate a place to stay after the crimes were committed.  Washington specifically referred to the officers and sergeant by name as he made the threats and attempted solicitations.

As a result of the investigation Washington has been charged with four counts of Criminal Solicitation to Commit Criminal Homicide. He remains incarcerated at Lancaster County Prison.
