The National Weather Service has issued a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for the area in effect from midnight tonight until 1 P.M. Monday.

A storm system riding in from the southwest is expected to a wintry mix to the area in time for the morning commute. Snow and sleet accumulations of less than 1 inch with a trace to .10 of ice possible.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY goes into effect at midnight

Around midnight, a light wintry mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain moves in. The northern half of our region sees a spotty mixture of snow, sleet, and freezing rain. Our southern counties along the state border primarily begin with sleet and freezing rain, but some flakes are possible. Through the overnight period, it becomes mainly pockets of freezing rain and rain. By about 8 A.M. to 10 A.M. Monday, the precipitation should transition completely to rain.

There could be icy areas before the complete transition over to rain, so use caution during the morning commute. Traveling may be slow and slick where roads are covered with snow and ice. Allow for some extra time for the morning.
