HARRISBURG, PA(WPMT) A second Harrisburg man is convicted in the aftermath of a gunfight that killed innocent bystander 18 year old Tiana Dockens, granddaughter of city council president Wanda Williams.
The jury in the trial of Justin “Squeak” Baxter, which resumed its deliberations at around 8:30 am, returned a verdict at about 3:30 pm this afternoon. Baxter, 28 was found guilty of one count of Aggravated Assault Simple Assault, Carrying a Firearm without a License, and Persons Not to Possess a Firearm.
The jury did not believe Baxter’s claim of self defense when he returned fire in an exchange with Michael Gelsinger, 24, along the 1600 block of Thompson Street on December 6 2013. Dockens was mortally wounded by a stray bullet. Gelsinger, who fired the fatal bullet, was convicted and sentenced to life in prison last month. Another defendant in the case, Joseph Payne-Casiano, 23, was acquitted.
Baxter faces 5 to 10 in state prison on his conviction. Sentencing before Dauphin County Court of Common Pleas Judge Andrew Dowling is scheduled for March
